Our Programs

Holy Cross programs strive to meet the needs of our ever changing and diverse community and have changed many times over the years.  We are excited to bring you a wonderful school full of dedicated, faith-filled teachers who put the needs of the child and family first.  Below you will find a list of programs that we offer currently at Holy Cross Early Learning Center.

First Step is designed to instill an early love of learning.  The program introduces children to the school environment while developing a healthy separation from their caregivers.  Our curriculum follows the seasonal calendar through educational projects incorporating art, music, and crafts.  Through experiential learning, students will learn important social skills such as sharing, listening, and expressing their thoughts through words.  Children will begin building the essentials, such as fine and gross motor skills, as well as letter, number and shape recognition.  This program really is the first step to a caring, holistic learning experience.

Meets: Monday-Friday 9:00a-12:00p
                  (2 – 5 day options)

Our Level I program provides children the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  Routines are established early on to foster their sense of security and self-discipline.  Throughout the year, children explore colors, shapes, science and nature.  Their literacy foundation skills are taught through an introduction to letters and numbers, as well as exposure to good literature.  Fine motor skills are developed through the use of table top manipulatives, sensory tables, puzzles, and daily crafts using scissors and writing utensils.  the students’ gross motor skills grow through song and dance as well as playground time and yoga/tumble.  Students are engaged in daily playtime to foster important skills such as sharing, listening, communicating and cooperating.  The goal of a Level I program is to enrich the children and prepare them with the proper skills needed to be successful in Level II.

Our Level II program provides students with a caring, creative, and structured learning environment that fosters development of the whole child and prepares them for the rigors of Kindergarten.  Students will use the established program “Handwriting Without Tears” which teaches children printing and letter recognition in a gentle, age-appropriate manner.  Our phonics and whole language activities help children begin reading and writing simple sentences.  Mathematical concepts are explored through work with standard and non-standard measurements, number lines, simple graphs and charts.  Students practice with counting, sequencing, patterning, and puzzles.   This class incorporates a multi-sensory approach to learning where art, music and dance also come into play.    Level II also features hand-on science experiments and exploration into the world of animals and plants.  Like every class at Holy Cross, Level II: Pre-K is a family that encourages every person to discover and grow.  Between our everyday curriculum, themed days and fun events, such as our Christmas play, International Night and graduation performance, children look forward to coming to school daily.

Research shows that there is a greater readiness for kindergarten in children who receive a high-quality early education.  Our Transitional Kindergarten program provides students many opportunities to develop both intellectually and socially.  By giving the students the “gift of time”, we are able to support their growth through group lessons as well as individualized instruction.  The curriculum is based on themed units of study where students learn literacy and math skills.  Each unit also incorporates science where students will employ the scientific method and others to solve problems an think critically.  We strive to present creative lessons to encourage phonological awareness and increase understanding of mathematical concepts, letter and word recognition, and vocabulary.  All lessons are age and developmentally appropriate and focus on improved student outcomes.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and the state's guidelines and restrictions our extracurricular activities are not allowed and will resume as soon as these restrictions are lifted.

Extra Curricular Activities

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to enhance your child’s educational experience with a variety of extra curricular activities.  These activities are designed specifically for the early child by quality professionals from around our community.  After their morning class any children participating in an extra curricular will go directly to lunch bunch to eat.  They will then be picked up and brought to another room for their activity by their instructor at the appropriate time.   To sign your kids up please click the button below or visit our registration page.
