Founded by Elana Ochs in 2016, KC Kids was created to provide a multi-faceted, dynamic and jam packed program with options for every age and personality type. This is also a great solution for working parents who need reliability, stability and consistency late into the afternoon or for early morning drop-offs throughout the entire school year.
Our Director, Morah Wendy is bilingual (Hebrew/English) and together with our team, implements daily Homework guidance, Trivia, Ma’agal Shel Chesed, Chesed programming that prepares food and refuah cards for local hospitals and other organizations, art workshops, weekly challah baking, Rosh Chodesh events, daily sports programming, games, theme parties and much much more.
We also provide an extensive collection of board games and manipulative games for all ages that encourage collaborative team play. Our organized and quality programming appeals to our multi-aged groups and we look forward to watching the kids create lasting and meaningful friendships throughout the different grades each year.
We are a mixed age-group program for Yeshivat He’Atid students, ranging from Prek-8th Grade. We offer Before Care (7:00 am.-8:30 a.m.) and up to 3 hours of after-care. Mondays-Thursdays we run 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and Fridays 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. We do NOT operate on days that Yeshivat He’Atid has a half day. KC KIDS runs Sep 4th-June 20th. We operate until 4:30 p.m. every Friday except when candle lighting is earlier. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before candle lighting Erev Shabbat in those instances.
Yeshivat He’Atid will be closing at 2pm on most Fridays. The school will close at 1:30 p.m. between November 9th -March 8th. KC KIDS will still close at 4:30 p.m. the latest on Fridays. Morah Wendy has been an educator for more than 15 years and taught Kindergarten for 15 years at Moriah. She will be overseeing the majority of the programming, including Chesed Initiatives, Homework, Arts and Crafts, Baking and Specialists.
Coach Luis is returning for his third year at KC KIDS. He is well known from his time working as a Coach with other soccer and sports organizations geared for children. He organizes the Sports programming at KC KIDS along with overseeing the program with Morah Wendy.
The kids begin with checking in, snack time and a homework period, overseen by Morah Wendy. (She is fluent in Hebrew and English.) Afterwards the students are broken into groups in order to participate in baking, sports, arts and crafts, board games, chesed, our private library and outdoor play. At 5:30 p.m. the students take out their food for dinner time. Occasionally, we bring in surprise guests, workshops and performers.
Please send extra snacks, water bottle, dinner (if applicable) and any homework supplies necessary. This includes pencils, notebooks, sharpeners and erasers.
We have a KC KIDS refrigerator located by the Main Entrance. If your child is joining us for dinner, at 5:30p.m., please leave a lunchbox or bag LABELED there. The KC KIDS staff will collect it at 5:30 p.m. each day and bring to the cafeteria. We do not have access to a microwave at this time.
Yeshivat He’Atid will be providing KC KIDS families with their own keypad codes to use to enter the building. The Main Door and Palisades Door. Your codes will work at both entrances during KC Kids hours only. Information regarding these codes will be emailed to registrants.
KC KIDS takes place inside Yeshivat He’Atid’s cafeteria and gym. There is no carpool line and you must enter the building and physically check in and out with a KC KIDS staff member. Failure to do so is a breach of our safety and security measures for the children. After check out, parents must exit the building with their child. Families may not wander the building during pickup or enter their child’s classrooms etc. Please be mindful of all your children’s whereabouts during pickup so that younger siblings do not wander either.
Alternate individuals picking up your child must be 18 years or older and provide ID. We must also receive parental confirmation via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 1:00 p.m. that day if there is a change in the usual plans.
Please email the office at email@example.com ONLY. Sending emails, texting or making calls to Elana for example, will go unreturned. They are a separate entity and not affiliated with KC KIDS.
If your child has alternate after school plans one day, is away or sick, you must contact Ora at Yeshivat He’Atid AND email firstname.lastname@example.org. Our goal is make sure that each student is accounted for and brought to the right areas for carpool line, busing or KC KIDS drop off.
The teachers at Yeshivat He’Atid are aware of which students attend KC KIDS and they are brought directly to our KC KIDS staff.
